  1. 1

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook angel hair pasta in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until slightly firm, 4 to 5 minutes. Drain, reserving 1 cup of the pasta water.

  2. 2

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over high heat. Add shrimp; cook, stirring, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the shrimp to a bowl, keeping the liquid in the skillet.

  3. 3

Reduce the heat to medium-high. Add the onion and the garlic to the skillet; cook until the onion is translucent, 5 to 7 minutes. Add the tomatoes; cook and stir until the tomatoes soften, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

Add the asparagus and the reserved pasta water to the skillet; bring to a simmer and cook until the asparagus are tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in the shrimp and the pasta; cook until the shrimp are completely opaque in the center, 2 to 3 minutes. Season with salt, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and serve with lemon wedges.
