    Meanwhile, cook and stir the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard the grease. Transfer the beef to the stockpot.

    Cook and stir the chorizo in the skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard the grease. Transfer the chorizo to the stockpot.

    Add oil to the skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Add the onions and garlic; cook, stirring, until very well cooked and translucent, 7 to 10 minutes. Add the cumin and chili powder and cook for about 3 more minutes. Transfer the onions to the stockpot.

    Stir the beans into the stockpot, then add the lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
