Soft Batch Pan Dinner Rolls
Soft Batch Pan Dinner Rolls bake up tender and slightly sweet, with pillowy interiors and gently golden tops. They’re perfect for holiday spreads, weeknight dinners, or any time you want a basket of warm, comforting bread to share. The subtle richness from milk, egg, and butter makes them especially satisfying alongside soups, roasts, and salads.

In a large bowl, stir together 2 cups flour, sugar, shortening, salt, and yeast. Add warm water, warm milk, and egg; beat with an electric mixer on low for 1 to 2 minutes, scraping the sides often. Mix in the remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until the dough comes together.
- 2
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. Place it in a greased bowl and turn to coat all sides. Cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- 3
Move the dough to a lightly floured surface and divide it in half. Cut each half into 24 pieces; shape each piece into a round. Arrange half of the rolls in a lightly greased 9-inch round cake pan; brush half of the melted butter over the tops. Place the remaining rolls in a second greased cake pan and brush with the remaining butter. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven until golden brown, 12 to 18 minutes.
