Instant Pot Baby Back Ribs

Instant Pot Baby Back Ribs come out fall-off-the-bone tender from a pressure-cooked spice rub, then get lacquered with barbecue sauce and finished briefly in the oven for a sticky, smoky glaze. The ribs are savory with a touch of heat from cayenne and chili powder, perfect for weeknight cookouts or game-day platters.

Instant Pot Baby Back Ribs
  1. 1

Mix kosher salt, brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper in a small bowl.

  2. 2

Cut the rib rack into 4 equal pieces; rub the spice mixture over all sides of each piece.

  3. 3

Pour broth into a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as an Instant Pot). Arrange the ribs in a teepee shape. Close and lock the lid. Choose high pressure per the manufacturer's directions; set the timer for 30 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.

  4. 4

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.

  5. 5

Carefully release the pressure using the quick-release method per the manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid. Move the ribs to the prepared baking sheet. Brush barbecue sauce over all sides of the ribs.

  6. 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 7 minutes. Flip the ribs; continue baking until the meat pulls away from the bones easily, about 7 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted in the center should register 145 degrees F (63 degrees C).
