Prime Rib Roast Baked in a Kosher Salt Crust

Prime Rib Roast Baked in a Kosher Salt Crust delivers deep beef flavor and exceptionally tender slices, thanks to a protective blanket of coarse salt that locks in moisture. Cracked black pepper and seasoning salt add a robust, peppery edge to the rich, buttery meat. Serve this impressive centerpiece for holiday dinners or special occasions when you want melt-in-your-mouth roast beef.

Prime Rib Roast Baked in a Kosher Salt Crust
  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 210 degrees F (100 degrees C).

  2. 2

Cover the bottom of a roasting pan with a layer of kosher salt. Set the roast bone side down on the salt. Season the meat with the ground black pepper and seasoning salt, then cover it completely with kosher salt.

  3. 3

Roast in the preheated oven for 4 to 5 hours, or until the internal temperature of the meat reaches 145 degrees F (63 degrees C).

  4. 4

Remove from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes. This sets the juices and makes the roast easier to carve. (Note: Be sure to remove all the salt from the roast before serving.)
