Sarma (Stuffed Cabbage)
  1. 1

Separate the leaves from the head of cabbage.

  2. 2

In a bowl, combine the beef, pork, ham, uncooked rice, onion, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly mixed. Shape the mixture into oblong balls, using 1/2 cup of the mixture for each. Wrap a cabbage leaf around each ball.

  3. 3

Spread the sauerkraut over the bottom of a large pot. Arrange the cabbage rolls on top, seam-side down. Pour tomato juice over the rolls, then add enough water to cover and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to low and simmer for about 3 hours, adding more water as needed.
