Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Warm olive oil and butter together in a large, ovenproof skillet over medium heat.

When the butter is sizzling, add the chicken pieces. Season with salt and pepper.

Brown one side of the chicken pieces for 3 to 5 minutes; turn them, then add the diced red onion, minced garlic, and minced fresh basil. (See Note.)

Cook, stirring often, until the garlic is fragrant and the onion is softened, about 3 minutes.

Season with pepper flakes, then add the artichokes and tomatoes. Stir in the spinach, and remove the skillet from the heat.

Mix the Italian seasoned bread crumbs with the shredded Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over the contents of the skillet.
