    Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Fit the pie pastry into a 9-inch pie pan and prick the bottom and sides with a fork.

    Bake in the preheated oven until lightly browned, 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely, then lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

    As the crust cools, lay the tomato slices in a single layer in a colander and sprinkle with salt. Let stand for about 10 minutes to draw out moisture, then blot away excess moisture with a paper towel.

    Place 1/2 of the tomatoes in an overlapping layer over the bottom of the cooled crust. Sprinkle with 1/2 each of the garlic, basil, Cheddar, and mozzarella. Repeat the layers once more, then spread the mayonnaise over the top.
