Beef and Sausage Fried Wontons deliver a juicy, savory bite with a touch of heat from hot Italian sausage and the warm aromatics of Chinese five-spice. 1. 1

Beat the egg white with the water in a small bowl and set aside.

  2. 2

Gently combine the ground beef, sausage, 1 tablespoon sweet chile sauce, five-spice powder, garlic powder, green onion, and salt and pepper.

  3. 3

Place about 1 teaspoon of the meat mixture onto a wonton wrapper with one corner pointing toward you.

  4. 4

Fold the left and right corners over the filling so they slightly overlap, then roll the bottom corner up tightly to form a pocket around the filling.

  5. 5

Keep rolling until only the tip of the remaining corner shows; brush that corner with the egg white mixture to seal.

  6. 6

Heat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  7. 7

Fry the egg rolls in batches in the hot oil until golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes.

  8. 8

Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  9. 9

Serve with 1/2 cup of sweet chili sauce.
