Fried Cabbage with Bacon and Garlic
  1. 1

Place the bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until browned and crispy, 7 to 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on paper towels and remove most of the bacon grease from the skillet.

  2. 2

Add the oil to the skillet and heat over medium heat. Add the onion and the garlic; cook and stir until the onion is softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the cabbage, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes; cook and stir until the cabbage is tender, 10 to 15 minutes. If you want softer cabbage, cover the skillet while cooking to create some steam.

  3. 3

Crumble the bacon into the skillet and mix it with the cabbage until well combined.
