Balsamic-Soy Marinated Flank Steak on the Grill
  1. 1

Whisk the onion, garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, rosemary, salt, and pepper together in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade into the bag and coat the steak with the marinade. Press out excess air from the bag and seal it. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 days.

  3. 3

Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.

  4. 4

Remove the steak from the marinade and shake off any excess liquid. Reserve the marinade.

  5. 5

Grill the steak until it is firm, hot in the center, and just starting to change from pink to gray, 6 to 8 minutes per side, brushing it occasionally with the reserved marinade. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should register 150 degrees F (65 degrees C). Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly across the grain.
