Lazy Sunday Slow-Braised Spare Ribs

    Put the ribs in a large pot and cover them with lightly salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for 45 minutes. Drain.

    Warm olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat until it shimmers. Add the ribs and brown them for about 10 minutes per side. Move the ribs to a plate.

    Pour the broth, ketchup, brown sugar, lemon juice, minced onion, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, seafood seasoning, red pepper flakes, nutmeg, salt, and pepper into the Dutch oven. Stir to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom. Reduce the heat to medium-low and bring to a simmer.

    Put the ribs back into the Dutch oven and turn them to coat with the sauce. Cover and simmer over low heat until the meat is very tender and falls off the bones, about 3 hours.
